Another relieved smile met him as she fumbled out of the cart. Unselfconsciously, she stripped her clothing tossing them in a corner. The water ran at a trickle, but her movements were quick as she washed.
She'd finished when she turned to find him holding clothing that matched his. Within moments, she'd slipped them on and her hands kept smoothing down the front of her shirt. The fabric felt cool against her skin.
"what......your name?" she asked trying to remember if he'd said. It was obvious she was fighting for clarity in her fog driven mind.

He turned around with the scrubs in hand then immediately looked up at the ceiling, at the walls on either side, anywhere but at the naked girl in front of him. When she took the clothing from him, he immediately turned around and busied himself with tidying the cupboard, only closing it when he thought she'd had enough time to change. His face softened as he saw her stroking her new clothes. He grabbed her filthy clothes and put them in the cart, trying to arrange things so it wasn't completely obvious someone had been inside. At her question, he turned around, unconsciously scrubbing his head again, "Ummm...Jason. My name is Jason. And you're Nhali and..." he lowered his head and rubbed the back of his neck, "I'm still figuring out how we're going to get you out of here."

Again she repeated his motion, her hand grabbing a fist of hair as she tugged on it trying to rememeber. "They...big door. Big....lights. It was dark." she frowned, pushing herself to remember. They years had changed little of the building, the main entrance for patients by large bay doors.
Young when she'd entered, she could not remember how long she'd been here.
Everything was so unclear.
The haze faded briefly and she smiled at him, noting their matching clothes. "Like you,' she smiled again gently touching his chest with her fingertips, then pressing her hand against her own.
She'd not worn softer clothing. Patients clothing were rough, mismatched and coarse. She felt....nice.

He squinted at her thoughtfully, "Yeah..." Abruptly he went over to the door and opened it a crack. He motioned her close and they peeked through the door. Finally he saw one of the female orderlies striding down the hall, hands in her pocket. "Her. Can you walk and act like her?"

She blinked at him, then followed and watched the woman.
As she turned her head to gaze up at him, she nodded. "Yes."

He rubbed his hands together nervously. "Okay...Okay...Um...so, just...We'll walk to the employee exit. I'll tell a really long story and just...smile?" His mind kept repeating 'this isn't going to work. what the hell are you thinking?' over and over but he smiled at her as he hoped for the best. He tugged her out in the hall and started down. He pasted a smile on his face and started telling an inane story to the girl walking beside him. People passing them smiled at a young man so obviously trying to get a young woman's attention focused on him. As they neared the exit he started sweating. "Then she told everybody about the cooking oil and the cow!" He laughed at the lame punchline to an even lamer story.

((you are cracking me up, he's awesome))
She had watched the woman until she was no longer visible, and stepped out with Jason as he did. The hall seemed long and she began to tremble in fear as they continued down.
Her smile faded as she nodded at his story. What was he talking about? She could not understand.
Keeping up with him, his sudden laugh startled her. She looked embarassed as the outer door opened and a man entered. He stared hard at her, then Jason before moving from the doorway allowing them access to the outside.
She began to realize she was supposed to laugh and her smile turned to Jason, her voice joining his in a small laugh. "ohh," she said soflty as she walked outside. The step she'd taken was the only step as she felt the rapidly lowering sun warm upon her face.
She felt him bump into her as she stared to the sunlit horizon.

The man who had stared at them made him nervous. After bumping into her, he put both hands on Nhali's back and pushed her ahead of him, urging her towards the street. ((happy to amuse. Tired. not sure if he'd have a vehicle or not, so...))

She stumbled forward at his shoved, glancing back at him to see why. The look on his face was one she'd recognize. It was a look she'd seen on her own face for a long time. She realized he wanted her to go faster.
So, she ran.
The long line of employee vehicles lay one behind another along the street and in two rather smallish parking lots. As they reached the cars, she looked behind her to see where he wnted her to go.
Here? This lot? That?
Meanwhile the guard at the gate was preparing to change shift for the night.

The scooter in front of her had four different colours of paint on it. If it hadn't been so washed out looking it could have easily have been mistaken for a conveyance for circus clowns. It was clean though, with not a speck of rust on it. Jason walked over to it and grabbed the helmets, handing her one. "Put it on." He quickly put his own on.

She hesitated, wondering at the scooter. She'd never seen one. Almost unthinkingly she grabbed the helmet and put it on. She watched as he got on, then at his pat to the seat behind him, settled on the seat.
"Thank you," she whispered to his ear, for though they were still on the grounds, this was the first time she'd been out of the building in years.

Jason started the scooter and puttered to the gate. Trying to remain nonchalant, he nodded to the guard, "Isn't your shift done yet?"

Freddie, the guard, shrugged and frowned. "George called in sick, I gotta work a double. I tell ya, I had plans tanight. My vacation starts tamarra, now I'ma gonna sleep all day" He frowned as he grumbled, hitting the button to allow the gate bar to open. He looked at Nhali, unable to see her face clearly behind the helmet's face shield. "Gotta date huh?" he winked at Jason. "Get on outa here, one of us should have some fun."

(ok..must be a glitch, cause I've posted twice and only now realizing what i'd posted, never showed up.....frustrating to say the least))
.......................................
Neri awoke with a start. Having dozed off, she stumbled disorientled to her feet. A great swell of pain and sadness swept over her. She could hear Mera whimpering in her sleep, then her voice calling out.
"Sister?!" Running to her, they met each others gaze, the same realization within them.
"Rest, sister...." Neri said as she darted to the front of the ship. The beacon which had been set to idle suddenly shot from a small port, through the water and up to the high atmosphere. It's piercing signal shouting their location through the star system.
Berating herself for not setting it sooner, she could only believe it was worry over Mera that made her forget. She knew they were deadlined, she knew they needed to get that other woman, she knew she needed, Leh'et.
~Leh'etse......." she called, searching down their private mind-link, searching for him to come. ~Leh'etse~
"Come," she said, as she reached Mera. "We need to get someone, then......we go home."
They had to....they just had to.

Jason winked, "I'll make sure to have extra fun just for you." He pulled out onto the street and drove a few blocks, turning onto random streets. He finally puttered to a stop, crossed his arms over the handlebars, and laid his head down with a heavy exhalation. "Holy shit." He glanced back over his shoulder, "So...uh...now what?"
