In spite of the seriousness of their situation, Neri found herself giggling. The prone form of the man at her feet looked so helpless and that brought the sharp sense of what she had to do at the forefront.
"Sister," she said to Mera, as Nhali sat back, cringing in bewilderment. "Sister, we must get him first." They half lifted, half dragged him to one of the sleeping quarters, laying him upon the bed.
"Are you certain?" Mera asked as they looked down at him. "No...but what choice did we have. We needed her..and... I do not think he would have left her. Do you?" Neri asked.
"No, I do not think so." Mera leaned back against the bulkhead, looking at Neri.
"I want to go home, Something is wrong." Mera said. The importance of finding Nhali had pushed her other feelings away but now they rushed back.
"I know, I feel it too. Leh'et is close...he is coming. We'll be home soon, We'll all be home" Neri said as she held her sister close. "Father is so sad,"
"I know."
They looked at each other, then resolutely turned to head out to Nhali.
"Come" Neri said softly as she took hold of Nhali's unresisting hand. ""Come, you both need to rest, Mera will stay with you."
Taking her to one of the other rooms, Mera closed the door behind them, giving privacy to the both of them. Neri, paused for a moment, waiting outside the door then nodded as she heard Mera explaining what she knew to Nhali.
A soft chime sounded, drawing her to the front cabin. Toggling the switch, she watched the vidscreen. Watched and waited.

Jason stirred, opened his eyes, and blinked at the ceiling. He squeezed them shut again, but they popped open of their own accord and he sat up swiftly. He glanced around the room and his eyes grew wider. Where was he, what was going on? Blue light? ... He fell back on the bed and stared at the ceiling. "I have NO instinct for self-preservation."

She had checked on her sister and Nhali, finding both had fallen into a restful sleep. It had been more than an hour since they'd arrived and she'd heard nothing from the other room. Glancing at the door, she hesitated, wondering if he had awoken.
Perhaps he had,. Perhaps he was hungry. She was and it'd been some time since she'd shared a meal with anyone. As she decided, she moved across the corridor, lightly tapping upon the door.
"Hello?" she said softly, quietly. "Are you awake? Hungry?"
After waiting a moment, she stepped back, frowned then rapped gently upon the door again. "Excuse me."

Jason had been staring at the ceiling for awhile, it was easier than trying to figure out what had happened and what might follow. He sat up when he heard the voice at the door, but hesitated. Responding and speaking to the women from the beach would make things more...real. He wasn't sure he wanted to acknowledge reality quite yet. He sighed at the knock. "Yeah. Yeah. I am." He shuffled over to the door and opened it. He leaned on the door frame and looked down at the girl in front of him. What was her name? Neri. Yeah. "This is real, isn't it."

She stepped back again as the door opened. It was the look on his face that drew her attention more then the words he spoke or the slouched image he gave as he leaned against the frame.
"Yes," she said quietly with a smile. She gave a half gesture with her head to the nearby door. "Come, we can eat and talk. They are asleep and I don't wish to awaken them." She offered another welcoming, and he could see compassionate, smile before she walked to the galley.
A small table set to the left, with what appeared to be a microwave setting to the right with other mechanical gadgetry. She removed two plates, setting them both on the table.
"I hope you like fish, we're....well, please sit," she said as she grabbed the forks and sat down.
"I know you're confused. I was when I first found out. Everything was so new and exciting.....and terrifying." She smiled at him, remembering the chaos she'd inadvertently caused. What happened to them? Dakota, Kayla and the others?

He blinked in surprise, "Wait...were you abducted by aliens and won your freedom through some sort of gladiatorial combat?" he paused, "I should mention that I don't always think things through and would really appreciate it if you ignored the preceding sentence."

She took his question seriously, taking a bite before she answered. "No, I was sent to aliens, raised by them." She gave a quick smile, "but they would think I was the alien, if they had known." Gesturing to his plate,"please eat, it's good."
She continued to eat, asking him, "What can you tell me of Nhali?" She only knew what she'd observed in the hospital and that was little enough.

Before Jason could answer, another soft chime broke their conversation. "Neri?"
She gave a quick wave to the food, encouraging Jason to eat before she slipped away to the front.
"Leh'et....yes..."
"Jali is headed home, we are coming to get you. I will let you know when we are insystem."
"Quick pickup?"
"yes, we will skip in, you can teleport, then we will skip out."
"Good" she emiled as she toggled the switch down, hesitated then flipped it back up, "To see you again...." she smiled again, a soft chucklle as she leaned back in the seat, thinking.
