He cursed loudly in Draconia, growling and taking a breath. He wanted to scream at Ktal, but knew the boy was as powerless as he.
::Rikki, Where are you?::
He shifts to his dragon form, and motions for Ktal to get on, he wasn't up for arguing and knew wherever she went she could be in trouble. He didn't know if Ktal could transport them both to her or not, but he wasn't about to ask.
As he watched outside the burned out village he saw the girl appear. Shadow and darkness swirling around him, a cruel grin forms on his face, dark - black eyes watching her. he was quiet for now, simply watching his newest prey.

Ktal wasn't about to argue, he felt the panic in Rikki's call. Panic and something else that caused him to shiver with apprehension. As quick as he could move, he slid upon Nraith, trying to still his fear. What if something happened to her? Why didn't he.... Oh what could he do? Fear caused his frustration to heighten, which brought his fear to a higher point. In that moment both he and Nraith could see the image that faced Rikki. The burned village as seen from her eyes. They could hear her pained cry of despair.
Rikki, crouched to her knees, grasped at the dirt wth her hands. That couldn't be right. She was losing her mind. That's what it was, she was ....
here. ....
Her mind ran a gamut of questions. How? They were days away. Just what was happening to her and Ktal? Could he come here to? Could Nraith? Could she get back to them? Of course she could. She refused to think otherwise.
If she couldn't. If they couldn't......
She moved closer to the square. The ruins of Sahiras house. Her mother's house. Everything. Shaking her head, she turned, pausing as a glint of shine caught her eyes. She swallowed back her revulsion and knelt reaching for the metal. Brushing the soot and ash from it, she recognized the pattern carved on the shiny disk.
The metal fell from her fingers as she stumbled back. Swallowing hard, her hand pressed to her mouth she kept backing away from the bodies that lay charred in the dust.
"who......they.....they were...." the words broke from her lips as she continued to step backwards, the scene frozen before her eyes.

Nraith saw within her mind what she was seeing and mutters another draconic curse ::We have to move fast:: he felt something else through the link they shared and growls.
With Ktal on his back he is in the air, flying towards the west and south of the city. Sharing with Ktal where she was he flew high and fast. He knew that he could cut the travel time down by a day by not stopping. And he would not stop. He would fly high the dive down at an angle to get the most speed without knocking his passenger off, but Ktal would still have to hang on.
He continued to watch the girl and horror on her face, the fear she felt. Oh he would enjoy torturing this one. He sniffs the air and the faint scent of a dragon could be smelled on her. It wasn't Gelithron, but still he couldn't stop grinning. For now though he simply would watch from the shadows, hidden in darkness his presence masked. He had shown to his former village what his new Master had done for him and they had died in utter terror as each watched another get eaten alive until it was only his father left. He didn't eat his father, but ensured his father would die a slow painful death as he lie broken and bleeding slowly surrounded by the bones of the other villagers who had not gotten away. Now he was at this burned out village and he waited to see what the next move of this tasty looking young girl would be.

Rikki.
Nraith could feet the tension that rolled through Ktal as he saw the vision from Rikki's mind. ~~:We're coming, Rikki, we're coming:~~ he sent gently to her, trying to ease the horror and pain she felt. Within that second, between the downbeat of Nraith's wings and the upbeat the flash of blue light surrounded them. As it faded Nraith could see the village that lay just over the hill.
Ktal nearly lept from Nraith's back as the light faded. ~~Rikki, I'm here. Nraith is here.~~
Still wondering how they managed to reach her, he didn't care; all he wanted was to be at her side and protect her.
Rikki continued backward until she stumbled against the ruins of one of the houses. Losing her balance she fell backward, cracking her head sharply upon one of the burned and charred logs. The sharp pain, with the images that still burned before her eyes, brought a quick surge of nausea through her. She groaned, rolling to her side as the shock of being here, brought that bitter tinge to her lips.
It could have been them. Had Kaera, had Je'raith been different...even Nraith; they killed. Retching, she rolled to her knees, crouching on the ground. The soft brush of Ktal in her mind brought her already frazzled emotions to a higher plane.

He was beginning to see how Ktal was doing this, but this time he was glad when he saw the blue light surrounding them and the village over the hill. He lands, but does not shift. His nostrils flare as his eyes look about turning from green to a dark red.
~Ktal, get her and hurry, we cannot stay~
In the shadows at the edge of the village he watched as the dragon and the man appeared over the hill and landed at the opposite edge of the village. He growls as his chance to get this prey had come and gone, but he would remember her scent and her fear. Oh he would play on that fear when he finally got to her. But he would wait. He was learning to be a patient beast.
Nraith watches the outer edge of this burned out village. He could smell something there, it was dark and evil. He steps in the village, remaining in Dragon form, moving in the direction of Ktal and Rikki. As a warning to whatever or whoever was out there he let out a very loud warning of a roar, his tail sweeping the ground behind him.
At the shadow's edge came another roar, not from him, but another beast, this one did not sound like anything he had ever heard before and this roar was almost a challenge. Smoke was blowing from Nraith's nostrils with each breath and billowing out around his feet he moved closer to his rider and her mate.

She felt Ktal lift her into his arms, her own arms tightening about him. "you came" she said breathlessly. His arms gently squeezed her as he felt the emotions that rolled from her in waves. This time he was prepared. He thought he was, yet this was different. Now it was not anger that spiked her emotions.
Tucking her closer to him, he could feel the stickness at the back of her hair and that angered him. Not so much the village, for hadn't most left, those that had stayed, well he gave little thought to them. Staying told their own story. And now, he thought, they'd paid for it.
As he ran with Rikki to Nraith, the other let out a roar he was still unaccustomed to hearing. But it was not Nraiths that caused him to halt. It was the other, the ...something. He felt it, like biting ants crawing upon his skin. The stinging sensation.
At the roar, Rikki froze and he smiled. There it was. That anger he was so accustomed to feeling in her. She feels it too, he thought. Whatever was out in the darkness likely killed those here. Of course, once she thought about being hurt herself, she'd be even more inclided to ...bite.
They came to Nraith, he helping Rikki to her place upon the dragons back. ~Good girl~ he encouraged her as she forced herself to stay upright, placing her hands upon Nraith's neck. Following her, he grasped her around her waist. ~Don't think, just lean back and rest~ he touched her mind with the briefest touch.

As Rikki and Ktal got onto his back he rose into the air with a beat of his wings. He glanced down, watching the edge as he rose higher. He caught a glimpse of movement in the shadow of the trees and wondered what it was. He sensed it was evil, untamed, or something other than normal.
He concentrated on getting out of there, turning he starts towards the west. It was time for them to see the other side of the land, and they all needed to swim a little.
::Rikki, what happened? Are you ok?:: His thoughts reach out to her, as they do he touches her memories and sees the burned charred bodies. He could smell them before they landed. He tries to comfort her and draw some of the sorrow, shock and horror so she can process it all.

He could feel her shaking, though held as she was by Ktal. The images playing over and over in her mind even as she felt him try to comfort her.
It helped, really it did, she let herself think.
But the thought that had the situation gone the other direction, Je'raith would have done as this ...this..other had done. She wanted to be angry at him again, but realized it would not be him. She couldn't blame him for what others did.
Was it luck they had survived at all?
She couldn't imagine life without Nraith, yet how could she look at him knowing what his kind has done. Did. What they continued to do?
The rapid thoughts swept through her mind and Ktal lay a cautioning hand upon her shoulder.
~~: It wasn't him. It wasn't them. Not all are bad, Rikki, you know that.:~~
She nodded. She did know. She knew it was unfair to Nraith, to any of the others she'd come to know and love to judge them for what had happened. She didn't want to.
And still, the burnt and smoking corpses contined to be seen before her eyes.
She shook more violently as she near whimpered to them. "I don't want to see it, I don't want to remember it. Make it go away Nraith...make it go away."
Ktal winced at her words, held her tighter and pressed his lips to her head, wishing he could take the vision from her mind.

He could feel the pain, the questions, the doubt. He touched her mind and the images she saw he saw. As they flew he let out a huff, frustration and worry.
::My Rider, my dear Rider, I cannot take away every bad thing you see. This is part of growing, part of learning. This is where I can only comfort and help you, but you must learn to let it go. Learn from the images, but let the emotions go. Those that did that are those like Gelithron. Turn the emotion you feel into something else and use it rather than let it use you. That is what we have had to learn, now you must learn it::
He wasn't sure if she would or even wanted to. They flew closer to the coast. He would land in a high place to rest over night, especially with that thing that was in the village. It no doubt felt her fear and smelt her scent. At the moment he did not know if the beast followed. Perhaps they would simply continue until they reached their destination.
He still had time to decide.

She felt his gentle chiding, though it was quietly instructive she still felt a sting that she'd disappointed him. Why did she feel so at odds inside?
Use it, don't let it use you.
Use it, don't let it use you.
The words kept echoing through her mind until she leaned forward and hugged against Nraith. Ktal, keeping his hand against her back, gently massaged her back in slow motion.
~we'll be there soon, Rikki~ he said softly, the worry clear to Nraith.

He too worried for Rikki. He could feel her at odds, feel the confusion. He could wipe her memory of it, but what would she learn other than to have them removed so she didn't have to remember them? Then what would happen when he couldn't remove them? No, while it wasn't what he wanted now, it had to come sooner or later.
As the sun rose behind them they reached the coast. A City mostly deserted. He knew of one who lived here and he would go see the old man soon enough. He had some questions.
They land on a large villa type dwelling. It had quite a few rooms, and a large courtyard in the middle. The Roof was big enough he could sleep on it in this form if he wanted to.
They land in front, which faced the ocean separated from them by a large beach. He paused as Rikki and Ktal got off, smiling as he felt Aer'alyn's touch. Good she was alright. He was worried for her. It had been weeks since he last heard from her. He felt her pain, but knew he could do nothing to aid her. She would have others around that would do that. Knowing she was with the Dalhria, he knew she was in good hands.
::Ktal, get Rikki inside, let her rest::
Before Ktal can take her inside, he looks into her eyes, "It's ok to cry Rikki, it doesn't make you less and it is not weakness." and let Ktal take her inside. As he watches them go in then turns and watches the sun touching the waters as it rises behind him. And a short time later his eyes close and he rests.

She couldn't get the images from her mind and she knew it also distressed Ktal, though he held it quietly within, and Nraith...because of her.
Hugging him quickly, she leaned on Ktal as he walked with her into one of the rooms. A quick dusting, it was cool and clear, smelling of the waters that lay beyond.
As Ktal encouraged her to disrobe and find rest upon the bed, she couldn't ease the agitation inside her mind. She knew sleep was out of the question, and how could she rest the slightest when her mind refused her?
Ktal, watched her thoughtfully before snagging her hand and tugging her up to him. "Come, I have an idea."
For a change, she didn't put up an argument as he led her from the house and towards the long line of sand that lay between them and the sea.
It was only when they reached the sea, felt the waters lapping their feet that he pointed out into the distance. The sunlight broke gold upon the water.
"Look Rikki, look where we've come." He rested his arm across her shoulders, cuddling her to his side.
Their feet had tired and they'd long since settled upon the sand before he felt the last of the tension and fear ease from her mind.
"Better?" He asked quietly, then felt her nod against him.

It remained in the cleft of the cliff that rose out of the sea like a giant beacon or dark warning depending on the time of day. It watched in silence. To the others of it's kind ~it is just about time. It is nearly here.~ It watched the sleeping dragon, the two humans as the sun began to rise. They had slept, all three of them. The girl was learning, but was it enough? ~Can it be delayed?~ It paused at the question, then there was a shake of the head ~No, it can not be delayed. The visions have not changed, the future remains and it comes~ It could feel the response of the others. All of them had had the same vision, this did not bode well - not for them anyway.
It stepped back into the darkness afforded to it by the rock. It could not stop what was to come. It wondered what would happen to it? Only time would tell and for the now it would simply way, doing what it was to do from the time they arrived - watch and wait.
Nraith began to stretch as sleep starts to fall off him like dead scales, slowly opening his eyes he inhales deeply. He could smell Ktal and Rikki nearby, but there was something else.. He couldn't put his finger on it. He stretches his large dragon form before shifting to his human form and turning towards the two who had fallen asleep at the water's edge. It made him smile to see them. He would let them sleep.
The sun was half way through the sky by that time and it was hot, but it felt nice. He sits down beside the sleeping pair, enough space between them so as not to disturb them. Wrapping his arms loosely around his knees, watching the waves beyond. It seemed.. odd, the ocean did. He looked around and could see no birds flying around them or out over the ocean. Then he heard it again, felt it deep within. His eyes narrowing. He steels his mind against it and fighting it. "No" his voice whispers in frustration as he rises to his feet and steps out towards the water. He could feel the urge to shift back rising, but he shakes his head and sets his jaw, "No" it was almost a draconic growl, whatever it was that had him rise high into the sky at the great city was calling him again. He could see something in the far distance.. but he wasn't sure what it was. Whatever it was.. it was coming towards them
.. and seems to be calling him at the same time. He growls again, "NO!" he didn't want to wake the pair, but he was unable to help himself. "NO! I WILL NOT COME!" The mist that forms when he changes began to swirl at his feet, but it seemed different than usual. He growls again. The mist he could almost see through it as it crawled towards Ktal and Rikki. He wanted to tell them to run, but something seemed to hold his tongue so he simply growls again.
It could feel the frustration, the anger, the rage rising in the Dragon. It peered out towards them and could see the mist spreading out now from the Dragon, even moving towards where it was perched. It had a dozen ways out of this, but then the visions would be a lie, the visions would be false and that in all their history had never happened - that had been told. It would not let this be the first. It simply waited for this to end.

She was lost in her dreams, finding a gentle peace that held her as close as Ktal's arms.
She could see herself perched upon the edge of a cliff looking out towards the ocean.
The blue seemed to call her, beckoning her to it's depths. She sighed within, holding back the urge to run for the waters.
As she waited, tempted, the sky began to darken, shadows and mists beginning to swirl down towards her. She glanced up to the oncoming storm that spilled coldness across her. A voice spoke behind her and she turned. The hidden foe now blanketed by the deepening mists.
"No, I promised....I won't go back on my word!" she insisted, crying out the words in a sharp bitter tone. She took a step back as the words rained about her ""NO! I WILL NOT COME!" She cringed, feeling coldness sweep over her again as the wind blew even harsher against her.
"NO! I WILL NOT COME!" She heard again from distance as the clouds began to shroud her nearly blinding her from sight and sound.
"I promised!" she cried out again as she turned to find the path, searching feet finding only the abyss of space beneath her as the cliffs edge fell away.
She jerked awake, disoriented as the haze of dream clouded her mind. She stumbled to her feet, rousing Ktal with her movement. "Rikki?" he asked as he sat up and reached for her stumbling form. She glanced wildly around, as if unable to see what was there and what wasn't. "I told you.." she whispered softly as she winced and closed her eyes. The stumbling motion taking her to Nraith and closer to the mists that formed about him. As she fell to her knees, her hands splayed out towards him. As she fell to her stomach, her hand touched him. "Nraith!"
Behind her, Ktal, becoming fully awakened scrambled to his feet and headed the scant distance towards them.

He could hear her behind him, calling to him, he could feel her inside as well. He growls again, but it seemed only in his mind as he felt Rikki touch him, he knew Ktal would be right behind her. Without turning it was as if he could see the two of them. He was in as much control as he could be at that moment, holding it back until Ktal was there within the mist.
He watched as the mist engulfed both of them. It had already spanned out towards the rock that rose from the sea's floor and it engulfed it as well.
~NO!~ it was all he could do, thought and nothing more. Then in a blinding flash the mist rose up hiding Rikki, Ktal and himself from the sight of anyone who might have watched from a distance. Something felt different as his consciousness began to swirl. He thought his eyes were open, but he was seeing with the mist. He had never done this before, never had he been able to do this before. It shook him to his core, yet he did not shift forms, not this time. They had moved, he could feel it. He tried to see beyond the mist, but all he could hear were screams and people yelling as they ran from the mist.
Then as quickly as it happened, the mist began to fall back to the earth and fade away, as it fell he slowly became visible and then unconsciousness took him and he fell to the lay in the sandy beach with Ktal and Rikki behind him.
It watched and waited. Yes, all three were there. it couldn't see, but it could feel them. It realized too that it had taken the rock that it was hidden in. It caused a chuckle. Now, where were they? or When were they? This would be an adventure like no other for all of them. It would have to make itself known to the three.
It knew this was a different world than they had come from, but how so? It touched the link with it's kin. There was no response, at least not right away. It took a few moments until it heard a familiar voice. ~Hello?~ The female voice was familiar, when it realized suddenly ~Tressill?~ There was a hesitation in the reply ~Yes, I am she, who are you and why can I hear you?~ Oh, this was weird, it should have no connections here.. yet.. ~There will be an explanation later~ it could hear her consent. For now it would go to the others, they needed protection and all were unconscious.
It opens a portal to a hut near them, and then steps from the hut. It moved to them. There were people in strange uniforms coming towards them. This did not bode well. It spoke a few words and a portal opened under the 4 of them causing them to disappear to a place it knew they would be safe. It was a cavern deep in the middle of the ocean. They were put on beds to rest as it sat and thought of how it could explain this. This was going to be complicated indeed.
