Rikki kept her face on her plate, still uncertain as to the emotions that danced a reel in her stomach. Ktal, chuckled softly, "Why? these...things that happened. How did things get so...." he shrugged, "warped?"
And though she was not looking at either of them, she was listening and thinking about what she'd been....he'd been..reading to her.

Nraith watched Rikki a few moments, he could feel the emotions that were doing a dance in her stomach ::Are you ok Rikki?:: came a thought as he looks to Ktal
"They became warped because those of us who were able to keep them in check were hunted or forced into seclusion. Which is why I came here. I tried to ensure that history was right at least here, but when the "elder council" was formed myself and a few others who were the oldest of our kind and true elders at the time, were left off of it. Those in power were warped, and so this became warped. They decided that even though you didn't smell like the other humans, you were the same. Gelithron is the head of the council, and has been since it was formed. But he rules it in fear because he has gained abilities that mystify the others. I was left off because I knew where his powers came from and if we had to fight, I could win. He is cruel and is not above using his own kind as he uses his human slaves, death is preferable to being owned by him." the way he said the word 'owned' suggest that he strongly did not agree with it. Your people were no better than his kind, and his kind was not greater than your people.
He finished his meal and sat back to finish his drink, and answer more questions. And think about some of the things he had read.

"What does he do to them?' Rikki asked quietly, the muscles in her stomach tightening again. He'd mentioned fight. If he were hurt, she didn't think she could bear it. She didn't want to talk about it, but since he mentioned it, it didn't seem to go out of her mind.
"What if you...will...if..." she huffed a sigh and pushed her chair away. She was not hungry now.
Ktal watched her walk away and pick up a book. She stared at it sightlessly, as if her thoughts were far away. He scooted his chair back, walked over to her and took the book from her hand. As he set it down, she looked at Nraith.
"You'll have to fight him, won't you? That's the only way to stop this...this...madness" She gestured out with her hands as she said 'madness'. In spite of the seriousness, she smiled. "You're like me, Nraith....you're a rebel too. You've just hidden it down here, with books and ..and...I was too loud. I shouted when I found things wrong, you looked deeper."
She was not sure if she made sense to them, because she was stll confused inside but she did know. She had to do better because of him...both of them.

He could feel the worry, even the fear and smiles softly, "I will not repeat what he does to them. What he does to them doesn't matter, it only matters that it is wrong."
He walked over to where she'd gone, took her by the shoulders and looked into her eyes, "If I fight him I do not fight him alone Rider. And I would never go into a fight unprepared, which means you would never go into a fight unprepared." he held her gaze a few moments before releasing her, "Besides, I'm not the only one who can defeat him. there is atleast one more, and another who does not realize it yet" he smiled softly.
He listened to the rest of what she said and smiles a little wider. He cast a smile to Ktal, she was learning, nodding softly, "Sometimes getting loud has it's advantages, but most times it can wait until you have more information. And there are times when looking deeper only brings confusion. Only wisdom can tell you which is better in a given situation."
He understood completely and let her know that, "You will learn to respond to situations and people, you will learn to lay aside the instant reactions."
He turns back to his table, to sit down, opening another book as he begins his search once more. He pauses though and looks past Rikki and Ktal in thought, "But if what I think is beginning to happen really is happening, many will rise to fight the likes of Gelithron."
With that thought he turns back to his reading once more.

He could tell she was pleased by his words. She did want to make him proud, make him know he was right in chosing her to be his Rider. It was only when he spoke past them did she have a flicker of hope that maybe he wouldn't need to fight.
What did she know of fighting anyway?
As the thought crossed her mind, Ktal chuckled.
"You may not know how to fight Rikki, but you do lash out at times. Perhaps we can focus that?" He said with a glance to Nraith. "But now, come..."
He pulled the chair out for her, picked up their book and continued to read to her, picking up where they'd left off.

He had a hope that they wouldn't have to fight, but she knew more about fighting than she realized, this much he knew. After all, hadn't she been fighting in one or another all her life whether she needed to or not. It was his task to teach her when to fight and when not to fight, as well as how.
He continued to read and after 4 or 5 more books he sits up and blinks, muttering softly to himself, "Those slimy cave dwellers!" he shakes his head and continues reading. Someone had gotten an account of them, though it was brief. He wondered now of the stirring he felt below the city. Were there really that many that he would feel it? he was sure he would find out soon enough.
He set the book aside and sat back in thought a moment, but keeping his thoughts to himself this time. This would have a great impact on the surface and everything that was happening or going to happen. Perhaps.. no.. it couldn't be that.
He didn't finish that thought and got out another book.
The book Rikki and Ktal were reading rose and moved off to the side, another book opened in a particular place where he could continue to read it to her.
Yes he could tell she was pleased, just he would know he was pleased with her and she didn't have to do anything more than be herself for him to know, he'd chosen right. He was beginning to see things a little differently though in the light of this new revelation and realized it wasn't just him that had chosen her to be his rider.
He smiled at that thought then continued to read.
::Tomorrow we will explore the old city. It has been a long time since I have walked it's streets::

She huffed a quiet sigh as he spoke, "oh, that would be fun." She knew Ktal wanted to known more about the flying ship and she was curious about the different mechanical things they had seen and read about.
She yawned, wondering about those that had lived at this city. What had they really been like. What did they think? How did they feel?
She yawned again and shook her head to wake her eyes. Granted, Ktal had been reading but she had tried to follow every word to memorize them and now she was tired. Ktal turned another page, tightened his arm about her and pulled her closer until her head rested comfortably against his shoulder.
She yawned again, rubbing her face against his shoulder with a soft 'hmmmm...' Blinking her eyes slowly, another yawn, she had a thought and asked. "Slimy cave dewllers?" as she turned her head enough to look at Nraith.

he sets his book down in his lap and leans back, pondering what it says and what that means.
As Rikki and Ktal are reading they are at the place where it talks of what the humans did to the Dalhria and the Dragons, turning on them after befriending them, making them their slaves to do their bidding. Some having escaped, others hunted down. The cruel deeds they were forced to do to each other at the hands of their Masters. Though it didn't just start with them Some Dragons did the same to the Humans, but the ratio was quite small in comparison to those of the human race that did it. But after the war, after they lost it became fashion to own a Dragon and Dalhria, or become a rider and enslave the Dragon. Images of collars made for the new slaves were seen, some were cruel - the ones for the dragons had spikes that would penetrate the scales and the tips would lightly caress the skin that should be protected by the scales. It was not enough to permanently injure the dragon, but it drove many of them insane as it gnawed away at them. The humans would think of more and more twisted things to do to their slaves and many Dalhria and Dragon died at their hands.
He continued to ponder his own reading when he heard Rikki speak, his eyes lifting to look at her, "I'll explain later" perhaps much later, he wasn't even sure himself at this point, but what else could it be?
Seeing how tired she was getting he smiles, "That's good for tonight. You can wander the library, but do not leave this room or the kitchen. If I am not with you I cannot protect you. It is dark and it is late. There is food to be cooked in the kitchen. I'm not hungry so eat as you desire."
The doors were closed and locked from the inside, there would be no one coming into these rooms.
He remained there at his table, reading and pondering. It was strange as it all seemed to make sense. He continued to read the strange script on the pages of this book. This book was of particular interest to him.
As he read he learned how the Dalhria got here and where they came from. But more importantly was WHO brought them here. From the descriptions given they were much like the Dalhria, but yet they were different. He wondered..
He closes his eyes and looks back into his memories and the memories of his kin.. finding a particular moment in one of the females who was hatched from the First..
He cut off that scene and journeyed back to his time and opened his eyes.. nodding softly. A smile forming as he started to put the pieces together.

She sighed softly, then in the middle of a yawn, tried to speak. "I think it's....." the rest of the sentence lost in a yawn.
Ktal chuckled, then tugged her to her feet.
"Come Rikki," he pulled her to where they's slept the night before. "Lay down," he said as he gently eased her down, tucking a blanket around her.
Half asleep by now, she murmured softly, "Don't leave," as he took a step away, her hand reaching out to grasp his. "I won't Rikki, I'll just be right over there."
"kay..." she said, drifting into sleep.
Ktal returned to the book and re-read several passages that they'd gone over earlier. He had questions of his own, but knew Nraith would not give them answers until he was ready.
He wasn't tired. Yet he felt, uneasy. Pushing the book away, he began to pace, walking the length of the room until it came to him. He was unused to being underground and was feeling on edge. What if something happened and they couldn't leave? What if that lifting box they'd come in didn't go up the way it came down.
He berated himself for his worry, but he couldn't shake the feeling that something was off.
Meanwhile, as Rikki slept she gently reached out in her dreams. ~~"Ash? Brother?" ~~ She sighed and whimpered in her sleep. ~~"Brother?"~~

Nraith looked up from his book to see Ktal put Rikki to bed and chuckled. It was good to see. Then he watched Ktal, a tilt of his head. He could feel the unease and looked around. He knew Ktal had questions and he would answer them.
Rising from his own reading he motioned to Ktal to follow him and moved to a spiral stair case that took them up. The height of the library seemed endless, but they stopped at the 4th level and he moved along to another row of books.
"What troubles you young Ktal?" he asked quietly, they were far enough away that Rikki would not hear the conversation or even whispers of words. He looked at the books as he waited for a response. His senses reaching out and around them to see if there was anything he had not picked up on. The books were in another language that he was able to read the titles of. Why he was suddenly drawn to this level and these books he wasn't sure. He would pull a book out and open it, reading it briefly before putting it back and doing the same a few times before holding onto a book.

Ktal gave a half shrug as Nraith asked the question. He struggled with how to explain the way he felt. Instead he watched Nraith, noted the books being taken and replaced.
He felt Rikki's restlessness in spite of her weariness and he walked to the stairs, peering down them for a moment. His words were faint, but easily heard by Nraith.
"I feel closed in. Like I have been ...." he hesitated, as a memory flashed through his mind. He was young, Sahira had taken him to one of the small caves. Forcing him in, she'd had the cave blocked with a large rock. He'd been forced to stay there for several days. Drinking only the water that had seeped from the rock face, no food. That was when he decided to leave.
It'd taken days to regain his strength once he'd been set free. How had he forgotten that time?
He turned to Nraith, "I need to see the sky, I need to breath air." He'd tried to maintain calm with Rikki, knowing she needed little incentive to lose control, yet with her asleep, now it seemed the walls were beginning to close in on him.
"Something is going on Nraith, I feel it....I feel it inside." He gestured outward as if trying to contain his words in the room. At that moment, he seemed engulfed in a flash of bluegreen light. As the light faded, he was no longer seen.
A breath later, Rikki awoke with a start, calling out his name.
Within that breath, he was above, standing by the flying machine. He gulped down a great breath of air as he slumped, stunned to the ground.
(ooc-it seems some of the Kaminaon refugees are discovering their inate powers)

((That's good though ~grins~ ))
He listened to young Ktal as he tried to express what was going on. He'd felt something odd about him starting shortly after lunch, but couldn't place it, but now he was able to. He smiled thoughtfully. People change as they are presented with different circumstances and different powers. It happened with his Kin when they were first created and again when they were joined with the other races to form a new kind of Dragon. Each time they changed. It happens to Rider and Dragon when they bond, even mates.
As Ktal disappeared, he frowns and leaps over the edge, landing solidly on the floor. Pausing only a moment he moves past Rikki, taking her by the hand, he leads her out to the lift. Climbing on he turns it on, it wasn't moving fast enough though so he flipped another switch and it sped up.
It felt much longer than it was when they finally reached the surface, the door opens and he runs out ahead of Rikki.
His senses find him immediately, and as they approach he stops Rikki, holding her back ~wait. He was glowing when he disappeared.~ He didn't want her to be hurt accidentally if he was somehow charged or.. well he wasn't entirely sure, but it would be a shock to both of them so he as protecting himself as much as he was her.
They approached Ktal slowly, crouching down near him, "Ktal" speaking both with his voice and his mind, "Ktal, Are you ok?" Hesitant he reached out to touch his shoulder.

Rikki had barely risen to her feet when Nraith was at her, grabbing her hand and dragging her along with him. Her shoes left behind, she could only gasp a half protest before the lift doors closed around them.
~~:Ktal?:~~ she asked, searching for him.
A stunned reply came, stunned but not hurt. What had happened. ~~:I'm....ok:~~ she hit the wall in response to the slowness of the lift, impatient to get out of the metal room. She squeezed through the doors as they finally began to open, not letting them fully open before she was through them.
"Ktal!" she yelled as she ran towards him. Her forward momentum halted as Nraith grabbed her and forced her to stop. Anxious, she curled her toes against the platform as she waited for him to approach Ktal. She watched as he touched him. Waited, until she didn't think she could wait anymore.
As she moved to the two, Ktals voice stopped her. She hesitated. "I think so." Ktal looked up at Nraith as the others hand touched his shoulder.
"What did you do?" he asked Nraith.

Nraith looks to Ktal at his question, shaking his head, "I did nothing Ktal, that was all you" he thought for a moment, watching young Ktal, then speaking after a few moments, "It seems you have some power within you that has been hidden and now seeks to be known" speaking as though the power was an entity of some kind, perhaps it was, he didn't know. What he did know is that sometimes magic seeks it's own path to revealing.
He gives Ktal's shoulder a squeeze before helping him up. He seemed lost in thoughts as he continues to think on what had just happened.
"Had you ever felt such a feeling before?" He watched both Rikki and Ktal as he waited an answer. This was getting more and more curious. Yet something tugged at the edge of his senses and he smiles, unheard by Rikki or Ktal
~I can feel you near~
The Third watched in under the cover of darkness, having seen what had just happened he reported it to the First and Second as well. He remained hidden, it was Nraith's words that touched his mind that caught his attention and this time he simply smiled, but made no reply or indication that he was there or had heard.

Unable to wait any longer, she ran over to them as Ktal answered. "No, I don't know what happened, I ..just.." he hesitated, thinking as Rikki reached him and flung her arms about him.
The momentum unbalanced them and he fell back to rest against the smooth metal of the ship, Rikki squarely resting against his chest. "are you," she started to ask atop his answer to Nraith. Her hands coming to gently cup his cheeks as he tried to answer both of them.
"I just....I could not be inside. It was...difficult." he said, as the memories of what had happened swept through his memory. This time, Rikki saw it as well, feeling the fear and anger, the hurt and sadness a young Ktal had felt. She shook her head, resting her face against him as she held to him. "Don't think of it," she said as his own arms tightened around her.
As she saw the images fade from his mind, she pounced on the most obvious question. "How did you do that? Can you do it again," Her excited movement distracting him from his own thoughts. "I don't know, I just.." He shrugged, "I just did...."
